Green Freight India

The Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) are collaborating to explore on how the road freight sector in India can be made more competitive, fuel efficient and with less carbon and air pollutant emissions.

As a first activity, the Green Freight India Seminar was held in January 2012, with support from Ashok Leyland, to provide an overview of green freight initiatives and best practices in Asia and worldwide, and to discuss next steps for the development of Green Freight India Program. SIAM and CAI-Asia will continue to work with stakeholders to develop a technology pilot for India and assess how a wider program can be introduced.
