Promotion of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Greenhouse Gas Abatement Projects

Description:
1. The TA’s main objectives is to:

• Promote investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas abatement (REGA) technologies in selected developing member countries to help realize sustainable development, including poverty alleviation, gender and development, and environmental protection.

2. The TA has the following components and outputs:

• Enhanced capacity in national technical experts (NTEs) for preparation of REGA projects, including for the CDM and GEF
• Enhanced capacity in financial institutions to appraise REGA projects, including for the CDM and GEF
• Enhanced capacity of national and sub-national policymakers for policy and institutional analysis to remove constraints to dissemination of REGA technologies
• Enhanced capacity in selected national and regional institutions for strengthening the analytical and information base for preparing REGA projects
• Enhanced capacity in designated government agencies for evaluating REGA projects
• Demonstration projects on implementation of selected studies
• Financing models for REGA projects, especially for investment programs for individually small decentralized projects
• Identified policy and institutional barriers faced by domestic manufacturers of equipment for REGA technologies
