Wuhan Low Carbon Freight and Logistics Project

The Wuhan Low Carbon Freight and Logistics project is part of the World Bank’s initiative in assisting Chinese cities shift to a low carbon development path through public-private initiatives In Wuhan, the focus is on non-motorized transport and urban freight. Clean Air Asia supports the urban freight component in Wuhan to ensure that the shift of Hanzheng market logistics activities to Lanyan Logistics Base and future growth at Lanyan Logistics Base is achieved under a low carbon scenario and with maximum co-benefits (traffic congestion, economic, air pollution, fuel use, other). This is to be achieved by incorporating best-practices of logistics design especially from Europe and elsewhere and incorporating measures to reduce fuel use and emissions. Activities include stakeholder consultation and facilitation; assessment of the city’s GHG emissions and contribution of the transport sector to the overall city emissions; and identification of emissions reduction strategies and development of action plan.
