Air Quality Management Training Course held in Beijing

In order to strengthen the air quality management capacity of in-service staff at the local level in China, the CAI-Asia Center and the CAI-Asia China Project organized the Air Quality Management Training Course in Beijing on 31 October to 2 November 2007 with support from Asian Development Bank and the Energy Foundation. The course is the first attempt to integrate existing air quality management (AQM) tools into a structured framework. Sixteen people from Changsha, Guiyang, Lanzhou, and Urumuqi participated in the course. They are officers in charge of AQM in environmental protection bureaus, technical professionals in environmental research institutes or environmental monitoring centers.

The course was delivered by Fu Lixin, Course Director and professor in Tsinghua University, and Zhu Tianle, professor in Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The course material is based on well-established courses of Tsinghua University in China, US Environmental Protection Agency online courses, World Bank Distance learning courseware on AQM, and CAI-Asia and Stockholm Environment Institute training modules on AQM.
