The Stockholm Environment Institute is pleased to launch a NEW Foundation Course on Air Quality Management in Asia, which is NOW available on-line at:

www.sei.se/cleanair

The Foundation Course on Air Quality Management in Asia is for adult learners studying the issue without the support of a classroom teacher. It is aimed at individuals with some basic knowledge of the environment and air pollution issues, acquired in a variety of ways ranging from conventional study, working in an environment related field or informal experience of air pollution issues.

The course consists of six modules covering the key components of air quality management together on-line resources. An international team of air pollution specialists has developed the course with funding from the EU and additional support from a number of other organisations.

We encourage you to circulate the details of the course to networks and organisations in your country.

Best regards

Gary Haq and Dieter Schwela

Hi Ed,

Althouhg CO and HC are only pollutants that have emission standard in the IRR of CAA. Emissions from the motor vehicle also include NOx, SO2, PM, and VOC's. On-road and off-road must comply in any government program like for example the Anti-Smoke Belching Campaign that started since 1977 by the defunct National Pollution Control Commission. The program was contnuosly implemented by the DENR-EMPAS until such time it was transfered to LTO due to CAA.

thanks again.

Hi Ed,

If you are looking for emission factors developed within Asian countries, you can visit:

Developing Integrated Emission Strategies for Existing Land Transport (DIESEL) Program for Bangkok - http://cleanairinitiative.org/portal/node/518

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). 2007. Draft Report on “Emission Factor development for Indian Vehicles.” http://www.cpcb.nic.in/DRAFTREPORT-on-efdiv.pdf

You can also check out the International Vehicles Emissions Model which is a model designed for developing countries.http://www.issrc.org/ive/

We are currently transferring the documents from the old website which I think maybe useful for your research as well.

Best,
Alvin
