CRAES is a member of CAI-Asia. It is the largest and most comprehensive research organization in the field of environmental sciences and management in China. As a major supporting organization to SEPA, it launches basic researches on applying environmental technologies and key environmental issues concerning the national economic development, provides support in environmental standards, environmental planning, information management and policies, carries out research on urban, regional and global environmental problems, pollution prevention and control technologies, ecological protection, environmental safety and etc. It also provides consultation and services such as environmental engineering designing, EIA, certificating environment-friendly products, certificating environmental management system, auditing clean production and etc.Sponsored by SEPA and jointly with the Chinese Atmospheric Environment Society, CRAES is responsible for organizing the National Atmospheric Environment Conference on an annual basis, which takes people in the field of AQM from governments, monitoring stations, research institutes, universities and enterprises all over the country together to meet and communicate, establishing extensive contacts and relationship with people in various sectors and at different levels. CRAES regularly sends interns and experts to SEPA and local EPBs to work with governments officials, some of them are working at the national level within SEPA while some are holding positions as directors of local EPBs, on the basis of which, CRAES manages to obtain a better view of and access to AQM at national level as well as at local level. Being the first established directly-affiliated and the most important research organization within SEPA and upon the experiences accumulated through the numerous research projects and activities throughout the country, CRAES has the intrinsic advantages dealing with the program relations with SEPA and local EPBs, local environmental monitoring stations and local environmental research institutes.CRAES receives interns to do AQM work from many universities, such as Jilin University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing Technology and Business University, Central University for Nationalities, Suzhou Insitute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection, etc. as well as from local EPBs. As part of international cooperation, CRAES also sends interns to international organizations for AQM knowledge like National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan, National Institute of Environmental Research, Korea etc. and sends people to SMHI, NILU, NISSAN Automobiles, etc. to receive training. Recently internship on AQM to DG JRC of EC is under processing and will be underway this year. Such experiences are to help CRAES in managing the North-South and South-South Exchange program.
